We get feature requests often here at My Mobile Fans. Some more than others but we have received more requests for User Management inside of your app. Good news, we listen to you.
We are proud to announce we have incorporated a user and group management system into your app. You now have the ability to create private access to a single login or multiple logins. We have thrown in an extra feature here as well for our app clients, Groups. You will be able to assign groups different access levels to sections of your app and then add users to those groups giving different experiences.
How does it work?
First, you will need to create a Membership Tab. This will allow you to create a login screen when users open your app. From there, click the content navigation tab and click your new Membership Tab. You should see something like this:
Make sure to click the Enable Member Login toggle. This will prompt the user for a username and password when they open the app. You can then choose to allow Guest Access. By clicking the pencil edit icon to the right of “Enable Guest Login”, you will be able to select which Tabs your guests may see when they login to your app.
You can then customize your Email Invite that will be sent to your users. This is a responsive HTML5 email so it will look good on any device your user opens the invite on. Feel free to add logos, change colors, etc this so that it matches your brand.
Next, under the Type dropdown box, select “Single” or “Multiple”. Single will allow you to set a single password for users to login. Selecting “Multiple” will allow you to create many different users seeing whatever app access you want them to see.
Create a Group
By clicking the “Groups” tab next to “Users” you will see Groups that you have created. To Create a Group click the “Create Group” button. A popup will open allowing you to name your Group as well as select Tabs that your new Group can access when they login to your app.
You will now see your new Group listed below the Groups Tab. Click the pencil edit icon to edit accessible tabs at any time once the Group has been created.
Adding Users to Groups
Underneath Users, you will notice 2 buttons, Create User and Invite Users. This will allow you to manually create users with a set password or if you choose Invite Users, you will add email addresses separated by commas. You will also want to Assign a Group to these new Users. Your custom HTML email invite will then be sent to your new users. They will set their passwords to be able to login to your app.
So, Can I Send Individual Users or Groups Push Notifications?
YES! This is a very powerful new feature. You can either send push notifications to one or more groups as well as single users. This opens up a whole new level of user engagement. You can also ask users to subscribe to your push notifications. We will cover the new Push Notification Subscriptions next week on our blog so definitely check back to learn more about that.
You will need to update your app software to take advantage of these awesome new features. This is a great time to update your app landing page content, screenshots, keywords, etc to make sure you reach as many new users possible.
This is obviously a very exciting time to have an app with My Mobile Fans and we aren’t finished yet. We have a lot of new features that we will be releasing in 2016 as well.
